A Study on the Subjective Perceptions of Public-private Collaboration to promote Multiculturalism Policy

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to realize subjective perceptions of government-nonprofit sector relations to promote multiculturalism policy. This study aims to analyze the typical characteristics of the perceptions through Q methodology. The P sample consists of 46 respondents deeply involved in government-nonprofit sector, as local government officials, non-profit researchers and professionals concerning multicultural affairs. The obtained data was analyzed by using QUANL program. The analysis identified five types of the subjective perceptions and explained 45.24% of the variance in responses. Each of the types showed a distinct view on financial resources, provision of social service, role of non-profit organizations, commissioned management and public-private partnership. Five Perception types: ¡°commissioned management with some latitude(type 1)¡±, ¡°equal partnership(type 2)¡±, ¡°complementary role with government resources(type 3)¡±, ¡°complementary role independent from government resources(type 4)¡±, ¡°implementation of government policy(type 5)¡±. These results will lead to future study directions and implications for establishing public-private collaboration.
